ROOF RENOVATION
Safe and attractive
The first thing to do after you´ve decided to re-roof is to obtain a thorough structural analysis of the trussing. If the trusses can bear only a small amount of weight, then either the structure has to be reinforced or you´ll need to use exceptionally lightweight, yet exceptionally heavy-duty materials, such as the attractively designed roof panels from Eternit. That is how a perfect "cold roof" is built, either with a ventilated loft or an intelligent underlayment - as described above.
Eternit defies wind and rain
Thanks to the continuous optimization of our anchoring mechanisms, Eternit assures the best possible safety, even in extremly stormy times. So all of our roofing products are affixed with multiple nails, screws or using an ingenious hook system, in order to withstand maximum stresses and loads. |
THE FACADE
The "pinecone principle"
The perfect protecting façade with Eternit´s overlapping cladding panels or wall shingles works like a pinecone - the façade structure is effectively ventilated while snow and rain easily run off the outer surface. The actual, load-bearing wall stays dry and thermally insulated.
The advantages of a rear-ventilated façade: |
Temperature equalization
- In summer: due to sun reflection the exterior walls do not heat up
- In winter: the insulation prevents the walls from cooling down
Even the extreme temperature variances between summer and winter have no effect on a properly insulated façade. The exterior walls do not heat up in the summer, because the façade material reflects most of the sunlight that hits it. In the winter, the insulation keeps the walls from cooling down. So the indoor environment remains constant and stable throughout the year, which provides economic as well as health advantages. |
Thermal bridges
- Perfectly insulated connection joints
- No heat bridges
Particularly in older buildings, valuable heating energy is lost through the exterior walls on account of poorly insulated connection joints. Continuous insulation bridges these exposed points. |
Heat reservoir
- The external insulation keeps the heat in the walls, using the storage capacity of the material
The external insulation retains the warmth within the wall, thus utilizing the material’s storage capabilities. This creates a pleasant, consistent indoor environment, saving heating costs and avoiding cold bridges. |
Condensation protection
- The rear ventilation regulates the vapour diffusion, thus preventing the formation of condensation water inside and the growth of mold and mildew
Condensation protection is essential for moisture-proofing and thus for insulation’s effectiveness. It keeps the outflow of interior condensation from being blocked (which leads to mold and mildew growth), because the regulated vapor diffusion draws construction material moisture and evaporation from within the living area out through the ventilation spaces. |
Protection against driving rain
- The Eternit weather shell protects the structure from driving rain
Thanks to the structural design, neither capillary water transport nor a direct wetting of the insulating layers can occur. Due to the constant drawing off of moisture through the ventilation spaces, the dampened layers of insulation can quickly dry again without limiting heat insulation. |
Sound-proofing
- Reflection of sound waves and noise reduction by up to7dB
Our curtain façade also offers effective protection against noise. Most of the sound waves reflect off the panels’ surface and the rest are absorbed by the insulating material. The noise exposure is thereby reduced by 7 dB. |
